“I recommend that you take a tablet at least 24 hours after eating to help reduce the chance of experiencing stomach discomfort,” she said. “I also recommend that you take this medication daily for at least 12 months.”
Smith also recommends taking Nexium 24HR daily as directed by a healthcare professional.
Nexium 24HR is available at a lower price, but it is not yet commercially available. However, it may be available over the counter at some pharmacies, especially those based in California.

The best way to be effective with esomeprazole is to take it on an empty stomach (between two and six pence) once a day, for four or more days. Consistency is key. To maintain the medication's effectiveness, it is recommended to take it for 4 or 5 more consecutive days, but this should not exceed a day or two before anticipated heartburn.
